Proof of sponsorship / private accommodation
General
Are you expecting someone from abroad who will stay in the Netherlands for a limited period of time? Then it is possible that you need a ‘Proof of sponsorship and/or private accommodation’ for this person. You can apply for a proof using the application form.
Description
Signatures
The next step is to sign the form at the Delft Registration Office. Do you want to act as guarantor for someone and are you married or do you have a registered partnership? Then you and your partner must come sign the form together. Make an appointment to sign the form and bring your proof of identification with you.
Notarising your signature
Once you have signed the form, the city will notarise your signature, in other words certify its authenticity. After the notarization you send the signed form to the person who wants to visit the Netherlands. This person needs it to apply for a visa.
What do you need it for?
You need the proof of sponsorship if you want to:
- provide accommodation to a non-European (proof of accommodation), and/or
- act as sponsor for a non-European who wants to visit the Netherlands (sponsorship)
Valid for 3 months
A Proof of sponsorship and/or private accommodation is valid for 3 months.
More information
Visit the Immigration and Naturalisation Service’s (IND) website for more information and if you need the form. There is also a list of countries whose citizens need a visa to visit the Netherlands.
Terms and conditions
Proof of sponsorship
Non-Europeans who want to stay in the Netherlands for 3 months need a proof of sponsorship (previously called statement of sponsorship) in order to get a visa. This means that someone (family, friend or acquaintance) acts as a guarantor for any costs that the visitor makes. Would you like to sponsor someone? You can indicate this in section 3B.
Proof of accommodation
Do you want to offer someone accommodation who needs a visa for travelling to the Netherlands? Indicate this in section 3A that you are offering this person accommodation.
